Dr. Lynn Kohan is a board-certified associate professor of anesthesiology and pain management at the University of Virginia. She earned her medical degree from Georgetown University, where she also obtained a master’s degree in physiology and biophysics. She also completed her anesthesia residency at Georgetown. She then went on to complete her pain medicine fellowship at the University of Virginia. After completing her fellowship, she stayed on as faculty and currently serves at the Pain Medicine Fellowship Program Director.

Dr. Kohan is a founding member of the American Society of Regional Anesthesia (ASRA) Headache Special Interest Group (SIG) and currently serves as its chairman. She has a strong interest in enhancing and improving access to educational resources related to head and facial pain conditions for pain physicians. In addition, she is also involved a variety of other national pain committees including serving as the chronic pain associate editor of the ASRA newsletter, being a founding member of the medical student and resident education SIG, as well as serving on the 2020 ASRA Chronic Pain Meeting Planning Committee. Furthermore, she serves on the council for specialty program directors for the Society of Academic Associations of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine. In addition, she is a founding member of the Virginia Pain Society and currently serves as the treasurer of this society.

Her research interests include, but are not limited to use of radiofrequency techniques in the treatment of chronic pain conditions.
